Empowering The Lao American Community
The Lao American community, known for its resilience and rich cultural heritage, often faces significant challenges in achieving socioeconomic parity. Many community members are first, second, or third-generation refugees from Laos who fled their homeland due to conflict and instability. Despite their contributions and hard work, the average household income for Lao Americans typically falls below the national median, limiting access to essential resources such as quality education and professional development opportunities.
By donating to the POM Foundation, you are directly contributing to the enrichment of young Lao Americans' lives. Your generosity enables us to continue offering programs that build cultural pride, promote educational achievement, and create opportunities for professional development. Together, we can empower the Lao American community to overcome economic disparities and achieve their full potential.
At the POM Foundation, we are committed to bridging these gaps and empowering the Lao American community. Each year, our programs serve over 100 youths and involve more than 200 community members. Through the universal language of art, culture, and education, we help American-born youths reconnect with their Lao roots.
Our initiatives have proven invaluable for the Lao American youths who participate, providing them with a deeper understanding of their cultural identity and fostering personal growth. These experiences not only enhance their self-awareness but also help them develop a strong sense of individuality.
Your support can make a difference.
"Not merely a demonstration of these students’ skill; it is the result of a profound process of learning about their family ancestry, culture, language and belief"
Karen B. Stewart, United States Ambassador to Laos 2010-2013 on the POM Foundation Cultural Exchange Program
